We arrived in Miami on the first day of Hurricane season - not the smartest planning on our part - and there just happened to be a rather large tropical storm that we thought might ruin our trip. It had been pooring rain the day before and we were surprised to wake up and see the sun. We went to South Beach and went shopping at this really cool outdoor plaza. We were headed back to the car when it started to downpoor out of nowhere!! Dennis and I decided to run to the car so that we could pick up Tyler, Monica, and Jayda without them having to go out in the rain and get wet. We were soaked!!! And of course, it stopped raining right as we got to the car!!! I wanted to take a picture to remember running in the rain in South Beach where apparrently you can't escape the "Wet t-shirt" experience.
The rest of our trip we had the most beautiful weather!!! It was perfect! We stayed at a really nice resort in Sunny Isles. It was right on the beach and had private tiki huts and a swimming pool that overlooked the ocean. I think everyone could tell that we were tourists because we were all so white!!!
Jayda loved the sand!!! She was fascinated by the way it felt in her hands. She also loved her first swimming pool experience. She splashed and played for a long time and didn't want to be taken out of the water. Don't let this picture fool you - it was a bright sunny day!! The background is just in black and white.
